May, 2003 GardenThe bed includes the following plants:
The garden, in all its glory (from April). There are almost daily changes to the garden as the daytime temperatures move into the high 50s. The low-lying leaves are growing in nicely and some plants are making surprising reappearances.Click here to see the garden in full bloom (July, 2002).
The stonecrop provides the lushest green on the left side of the garden. The euonymus provides a nice splash of color.
The center of the garden is dominated by the cranesbill, yarrow, coneflowers, and salvia. The taller baptisia and peonies line back row.
The euonymus continues to grow nicely on the right side of the garden. The catmint is growing back nicely around it.
The cranesbill (geraniums) continue to spread througout the garden. The yarrow and salvia are growing in, too. The three are battling for control of the center of the garden.
The Japanese Peonies (known last year as "those expensive dried up twigs) are thriving this year. Beautiful leaves!
The baptisia didn't grow at all last year, but it is coming up quickly. They look like a bunch of asparagus stalks now, but they should be flowering in a month or so.
A twelve foot clematis vine. Someday.
Laughing Buddha graces this garden.
I threw in a picture of a burning bush just to remember what it looks like during its all-green phase. |
